        Joshua Gunn's CV

Joshua Gunn's specific academic and research interests include understanding wetlands' role in reducing the impact of floods on human populations.  More generally, he is interested in wetland planning and policy at different levels of government as well as how planning based on a better understanding of ecological functioning can reduce the impact of coastal hazards on human populations.

As his interests are largely interdisciplinary, he often utilizes geographic information systems (GIS) software in his analyses as the interaction between nature and human settlements can sometimes be better understood when looked at spatially.

He is currently completing coursework at Texas A&M University in College Station, and plans on returning to Galveston to work on his dissertation.  In College Station, he is the project manager for the Hurricane Ike Recovery Project under Dr. Shannon Van Zandt in the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center.
